About Dr Gillian Watts

Personal Profile

Dr Watts qualified at St Mary’s Hospital, London in 1989. She trained in London, achieving MRCP in 1992 and then moved to Oxford for her specialist Gastroenterology training.

She was awarded MD following research in Inflammatory Bowel Disease in 2001. Dr Watts has been a consultant for 27 years. She worked at Wythenshawe Hospital from 1999 to 2018.

Dr Watts became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2003. She was JAG Endoscopy Training Lead at Wythenshawe Hospital from 2008-2018. She was Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Gastroenterology research Lead and Audit Lead 2010-2016. Dr Watts has been of Chair of the Medicines Management Committee at Wythenshawe Hospital. She has been extensively involved in teaching undergraduate students from the University of Manchester, receiving a Gold Award in 2017/2018.

Dr Watts is an examiner for MRCP PACES for the Royal College of Physicians and a Trainer in colonic polypectomy at Liverpool John Moores University, as part of the North West Endoscopy Academy.
