A 2004 graduate from the University of Liverpool, Mr Boundouki completed his surgical training in the Northwest of England and was awarded a Doctorate’s degree (PhD) by the University of London in 2015. He was granted a research fellowship by the Royal College of Surgeons and obtained two travel grants to present his research findings in Sweden and Italy. He was one of only nine surgeons to undertake the prestigious national TiG Oncoplastic Breast Fellowship in 2019.
Mr Boundouki is the medical quality lead for breast surgery and the surgical lead for breast cancer screening in Sheffield. He is an honorary senior lecturer and examiner at the University of Sheffield. As a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Mr Boundouki reviews grant applications for breast cancer research. He is also a recognised trainer by the General Medical Council and the principal investigator in Sheffield for the international breast surgical trial ATNEC.
Mr Boundouki has authored a number of papers, including on wound healing and recovery after breast reconstruction surgery.
Clinical Interests
Mr Boundouki’s practice encompasses the whole breadth of benign and cancerous breast disease. He sees patients who present with breast symptoms (for example lumps, skin and nipple changes and changes in breast shape) as well as those with lesions found after a routine mammogram.
Mr Boundouki has significant experience in performing lumpectomies and mastectomies with and without breast reconstruction. In addition, he performs diagnostic excisions, total duct excisions and breast reduction surgery. His guiding principle is to remove the lesion of interest using the technique that produces the best aesthetic result. Mr Boundouki performs the following procedures:
