Mr Ganapathy Raman Perianayagam is a nationally accredited, fellowship-trained Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty. He currently serves as Consultant in Lower Limb Arthroplasty at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and is the Orthopaedic Clinical Lead for Fracture Neck of Femur patients.

With experience spanning more than 4,500 orthopaedic procedures, Mr Perianayagam has developed extensive expertise in complex lower limb reconstruction. His operative portfolio includes over 800 hip and knee replacements, together with 35 revision arthroplasty procedures performed as a consultant. His clinical practice encompasses primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery, pelvic and complex trauma, orthopaedic oncology, and tumour reconstruction.

Mr Perianayagam completed advanced international fellowship training at some of Australia's leading orthopaedic centres. His fellowships include Revision Lower Limb Arthroplasty at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Lower Limb Arthroplasty and Pelvic Trauma at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, and Tumour and Arthroplasty Surgery at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney. He has also undertaken visiting fellowships at the internationally renowned Harborview Medical Center, Seattle, and the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, Philadelphia.
Since joining Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2023, he has established a high-volume arthroplasty practice, performing 322 knee replacements, 290 hip replacements, and 35 revision procedures. In addition to his NHS role, he practises privately at Ramsay Healthcare Doncaster and Circle Health Group Sheffield.

A committed educator and clinical leader, Mr Perianayagam serves as an Educational Supervisor, leads the International Surgical Training Programme, and contributes as faculty for the AO Recon Course. He is actively involved in teaching, mentoring, quality improvement, research, and service development, with particular interest in improving outcomes for elderly trauma and arthroplasty patients.

His professional qualifications include FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics) from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, FEBOT, Diploma in Orthopaedic Oncology (BOOS), FSEM (RCSEd), a Postgraduate Diploma in Orthopaedics, and an MBBS degree.

Mr Perianayagam has received several distinctions throughout his career, including the prestigious Joe Harper Plate for Best Trainee of the Year (2020-2021). His academic work has been recognised through national and international awards, including presentations at EFORT and regional orthopaedic research meetings. He has also contributed to peer-reviewed orthopaedic literature, including publications in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.

He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a member of the British Orthopaedic Association. Outside medicine, he enjoys travelling, photography, cricket, and badminton. He is fluent in English, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi, enabling effective communication with a diverse patient population.
