About Dr Farrukh Rauf
Personal Profile
Dr Farrukh Rauf is a consultant physician in respiratory medicine, practising out of our Birmingham Hospitals. Dr Rauf is Clinical Service Lead for Respiratory Medicine at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
Dr Rauf graduated from King Edward Medical College in Pakistan in 2003 which is one of the highest merit and oldest institute in the region. He started NHS career in 2005 and went on to complete his core medical and then dual specialist training in South East London and West Midlands, achieving his certificate of completion of training (CCT) in respiratory and general internal medicine in 2016. Dr Rauf was in the same year appointed as a Consultant Respiratory Physician in The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.
Dr Farrukh Rauf has a particular interest in teaching and training. He participates in training the committee of the regional respiratory trainees and is a clinical tutor at University Hospital Birmingham.
Dr Rauf’s clinical interest includes seeing a range of respiratory presentations, including cough and breathlessness of unclear causes, airway diseases, haemoptysis and respiratory infections.
His specialist interests are sleep breathing disorders and bronchiectasis. He also takes a keen interest in practical procedures especially fibreoptic bronchoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS).

Clinical Interests
Dr Rauf’s clinical interest includes seeing a range of respiratory presentations, including sleep disordered breathing, sleep apnoea, cough and breathlessness of unclear causes, airway diseases, haemoptysis (coughing up of blood) and respiratory infections.
He runs specialist service for patients with sleep breathing disorders, bronchiectasis and general respiratory clinic at his NHS base. He also does respiratory practical procedures especially fibreoptic bronchoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS).
Dr Farrukh Rauf has a particular interest in teaching and training. He is a member of the regional training committee for the regional respiratory specialist trainees and is a post graduate clinical tutor at University Hospital Birmingham.
Farrukh has a busy job but as soon as he gets home, his three kids make him forget the day’s tiredness. He runs with his daughters in the evening and every Saturday, he coaches his son who wants to be a fast bowler in cricket.
