About Dr Evelyn Millings

Personal Profile

Dr Millings is a highly trained and qualified professional who is a graduate of the University of Strathclyde, University of Glasgow, Glasgow Caledonian University and the University of Teesside.

Dr Millings is a Consultant Clinical and Counselling Psychologist, a Chartered Scientist and a Senior Associate of the Royal Society of Medicine. She has two doctorates.

Her experiences include clinical consultancy, research, management and co-ordination of an addiction centre, training of undergraduates and postgraduates in Counselling Psychology, medico-legal reports/expert witness, occupational testing and dyslexia assessment. Her ground-breaking research into Student Mental Health attracted media attention and laid the foundations for continuing research in this area. Other notable research was The Role and Influence of the Father on his ‘Child’ in  Biological and Non-biological Relationships. Lecturing experience includes Health Psychology for the Professions Allied to Medicine over a 15 year period at Glasgow Caledonian University and among other courses, the creation of Clinical, Health and Developmental aspects of Psychology at the University of Glasgow.

She has experience in dealing with a wide range of concerns in a clinical setting, including crisis/trauma effects (PTSD); abuse - sexual/physical/psychological/domestic, rape; psycho-sexual difficulties; confidence/esteem issues; adoptees; anger management; eating disorders; Oppositional Defiant Disorder; Conduct Disorder; ADHD; Autism Spectrum Disorder; and Bipolar Disorder.

Her professional knowledge/experience spans not only the clinical environment but also includes the educational and occupational fields with work-related stress an area of particular expertise in the latter sphere.

Dr Millings takes an integrated and eclectic approach while providing therapy for individuals, couples, families, children, adolescents and adults. She also undertakes hypnotherapy when it is considered to be appropriate.
