Having joined the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2004, he was elevated to Fellow in 2014. Dr Cameron has been involved in the examining boards of the Federation of Royal Colleges for over a decade and is a clinical examiner for the college membership examination. He continues to train and supervise junior doctors at all stages.
Prof Cameron was appointed as a Consultant in General Internal and Respiratory Medicine in August 2014 at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. He provides care in all areas of respiratory disease and has subspecialist interests in pleural disease and asthma. In 2020 he became Clinical Lead in respiratory medicine and continues to develop respiratory services in Forth Valley and drive change in the organisation.
In addition to a busy clinical workload, Prof Cameron continues his research, having been a local principal investigator in cancer and COVID related studies and co-investigator in airways related research. He was appointed as an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Glasgow in recognition of his academic activities.
In 2024, Professor Cameron was appointed as an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Glasgow, School of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing.
