He was an Assistant Professor in ophthalmology at Ross Medical School between 1994-1996 and was responsible for the clinical teaching of ophthalmology to the medical students.
In July 1996, Mr Khadem completed a fellowship in the subspecialty of vitreoretinal surgery at Sunderland Eye Hospital following which he was appointed as Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon in South Cumbria until 2008 for 12 years performing a wide variety of comprehensive ophthalmology procedures including: modern methods in phacoemulsification and IOL implantation under topical anaesthesia, glaucoma surgical and laser procedures, corneal transplantation, squint surgery, oculoplastic procedures, retinal laser photocoagulation, YAG laser procedures, combined surgery with ENT surgeons for blocked tear duct, and other surgical and laser retinal procedures.
From 2009-2011, Mr Khadem was the Lead Consultant Ophthalmologist at Care UK in Southampton. He has been providing his private professional services in ophthalmology for nearly 20 years and is currently dedicated to such services in South Cumbria and North Lancashire.
