Personal Profile

Elly qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2001 in South Africa at the University of Stellenbosch (she speaks fluent Afrikaans and English). She joined the Ridgeway Hospital physiotherapy team in 2017.
She enjoys being part of the ward team, predominately working with patient’s pre and post operatively.  Elly also covers the surgery pre-admission clinics, as well providing ongoing rehabilitation after surgery.  

She qualified as a Psychotherapist in 2011, with experience of delivering CBT as a complimentary therapy alongside their rehabilitation.

Additionally, Elly has a strong interest in Oncological physiotherapy and is a qualified Manual Lymph Drainage therapist and treats a variety of patients to promote lymph drainage, improve and speed up the healing process, reduce swelling and scar tissue, restore normal range of movement, eg post orthopaedic & cosmetic procedures or sports injuries.

As a Manual Lymph Drainage therapist, Elly is specialising in the care of oncology patients who struggle with lymphoedema or needs compression garments. Elly is a trained therapist to support oncology patients with their mental and physical rehabilitation and exercises pre-, during & post cancer related therapy.

Elly enjoys a very active outdoor lifestyle: paddle boarding, swimming, cycling and regularly running long distances.  She also has an addiction to undertaking endurance challenges and has completed three 100k races and several marathons and half marathons.
