Mr. Elgengehy is an accomplished Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with over 20 years of experience, specialising in paediatric orthopaedics and complex limb reconstruction. He holds a Master’s degree and Medical Doctorate in Orthopaedics from Ain Shams University, Egypt, where he progressed from Resident to Professor of Orthopaedics and gained extensive expertise managing complex deformities and trauma cases.
He further enhanced his training internationally, achieving the SICOT Diploma along with FRCS and FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics) qualifications in the UK. His subspecialty training spans six years in paediatric orthopaedics and limb reconstruction, developing advanced skills in deformity correction, external fixation, and Ilizarov techniques.
Mr. Elgengehy gained UK experience at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay and East Lancashire Hospitals before taking his first consultant post at Great Ormond Street Hospital, where he performed complex paediatric limb reconstruction surgery. He is now a Consultant in Paediatric Orthopaedics and Limb Reconstruction at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, providing both paediatric and adult orthopaedic care, including trauma, fracture management, and limb reconstruction.
A passionate educator and researcher, Mr. Elgengehy has led numerous training workshops for doctors and nurses, focusing on external fixation principles and reconstruction techniques. He actively mentors registrars and fellows and has authored more than 20 publications in leading orthopaedic journals, such as Strat Limb Recon, Current Orthopaedic Practice, and The Journal of Children’s Orthopaedics. He also serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Orthopaedics, supporting continued advancement in the specialty.
Committed to innovation and collaboration, Mr. Elgengehy works closely with multidisciplinary teams, including plastic surgeons, to deliver comprehensive reconstructive care. He is also developing dedicated paediatric orthopaedic services within his department and exploring new ways to expand access to specialist care through telemedicine.
Outside of medicine, Mr. Elgengehy maintains an active lifestyle through regular fitness training and enjoys spending time with his family. His career reflects an enduring dedication to excellence in patient care, education, and clinical innovation.
