Mr Yates studied Medicine at the University of Aberdeen before moving back to the North West, upon qualification. He underwent specialist orthopaedic training in the North West of England, and has a strong interest in research and training.
He received the North West Trainee of the Year award in 2013, and was competitively awarded the prestigious Cavendish Hip Fellowship in Sheffield, where he gained extensive experience in complex hip and knee surgery, including reconstructions following multiple surgeries and infection.
He has also undertaken several visits to international centres, and regularly attends national and international conferences focusing on advances in hip and knee surgery, as well as patient safety and enhanced recovery.
Mr Yates has been invited to lecture at both regional and international meetings.
As a member of the National Orthopaedic Data Evaluation Panel, Mr Yates is involved in the assessment and scrutiny of hip and knee prostheses and utilises this knowledge in ensuring his patients receive the optimum procedure for them.
He lives in Cheshire with his wife Jo and 2 young sons, and has recently swapped his hockey stick for a golf club.
