Personal Profile

Dr Abubakar Khan (AB Khan) is a Consultant in Respiratory and General Medicine at the Princess Royal University Hospital, where he provides assessment and management of the full spectrum of respiratory symptoms and conditions. 
He has a specialist interest in sleep disordered breathing, particularly obstructive sleep apnoea, and serves as the hospital’s Lead Clinician for Sleep and Ventilation Disorders. His experience in sleep medicine has shaped a holistic, preventative approach to care, recognising that long term wellbeing depends not only on treating current symptoms but also on addressing lifestyle, sleep quality and future health risks. He works closely with patients to build personalised plans that support both recovery and prevention.
Dr Khan graduated from King’s College London and completed his postgraduate medical training across several hospitals, including Tunbridge Wells, the Royal Surrey, St Peter’s and King’s College Hospital. Alongside his medical degree, he holds a BSc in Neurosciences, a Postgraduate Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Professions Education.A committed educator, he believes that teaching strengthens clinical excellence. He is actively involved in medical education at King’s College London, where he leads quality improvement initiatives for medical students.
