Personal Profile

Dr Pyne graduated from Cambridge University (preclinical) and Barts and the Royal London Medical School (clinical) with Distinction. He undertook his junior doctor training in London and gained his consultant CCST qualifications in both Rheumatology and General Medicine.

He was awarded the British Society of Rheumatology Travelling Fellowship in 2003. Subsequently in 2004, he attained overseas experience in Australia in Rheumatolog, Neurology and Renal Medicine, equipping him to specialise in multisystem problems. He trained in acupuncture at The Royal Homeopathic Hospital in 2001 and is certified by the British Medical Acupuncture Society.

Dr Pyne has published literature on rheumatic disease, acupuncture and joint injections in leading medical journals including Rheumatology and the British Journal of Sports Medicine. He has also contributed the rheumatology content to the popular international medical student textbook ‘Medical Management and Therapeutics’ by Kumar and Clark. He runs regular joint examinations/injection courses for GPs and allied health professionals and is an examiner for the University of London MBBS medical degree. He is Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of London, QMUL for Rheumatology and Sports Medicine.

He leads the 2nd largest rheumatology NHS service in the country as the Head of Rheumatology for Barts, Royal London, Newham, Mile End and Whipps Cross Hospitals.
