About Mr Deepak Batura

Personal Profile

Mr Deepak Batura is a Consultant Urologist with over 30 years of experience in general and specialist urology. He graduated with an MBBS from India before completing a Master’s in Surgery and earning his Diplomate of the National Board. He then undertook advanced training in Urology, obtaining an MCh from the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, and later became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Mr Batura has developed his urological expertise across a range of secondary and tertiary teaching and university hospitals in the UK, Asia, and the Middle East. He previously held Associate Professor posts at both Mumbai and Delhi Universities and has served as a Consultant Urologist at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust for the past 16 years.

His special interests include general urology, lower urinary tract reconstruction, incontinence, upper tract and pelvic urology, endourology, female urology, and uro-oncology. He has particular expertise in urethroplasty for urethral strictures using grafted tissue, a technique he introduced to his Trust. Mr Batura also treats complex penile conditions such as Peyronie’s disease.

He is highly skilled in laser surgery, performing procedures for both prostate enlargement and bladder cancers. He has a strong clinical and academic interest in urological infections, which he actively treats and researches.

Renowned for his compassionate and clear approach, Mr Batura is deeply valued by patients for the time he dedicates to explaining diagnoses, treatment options, and shared decision-making in a calm and empathetic manner.

In addition to his clinical work, Mr Batura is an active educator. He is an Educational Supervisor with Imperial College School of Medicine and the London Deanery and has authored over 65 publications in respected PubMed-indexed journals.

He also holds several prestigious editorial roles: he is a Specialist Advisor to the Urology Update Series for the Royal College of Surgeons of England, an Associate of the European Association of Urology’s Section of Infections in Urology (ESIU), and serves on editorial boards for International Urology and Nephrology, The Medical Journal of Shree Birendra Hospital (Nepal), and the Bulletin of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, where he is Urology Section Editor. He has acted as a reviewer for more than 30 leading peer-reviewed journals and is a regular speaker and chair at international conferences across Asia, Europe, and North America.

Mr Batura has also contributed to charitable medical work, supporting underprivileged and rural communities in resource-limited settings. Outside of his medical career, he enjoys travel and hiking in the hills.
