About Debbie Wai

Personal Profile

Dr Debbie Wai qualified in medicine from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom in 2005. She carried out her radiology training on the West Midlands Radiology Training Scheme from 2007 to 2012. After training, Dr Wai completed a one-year imaging fellowship in cardiothoracic imaging at Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, gaining skills in cardiac CT and chest CT/ HRCT. 

Dr Wai subspecialises in cardiothoracic imaging. She has extensive experience and expertise in the reporting of CT coronary calcium scores and CT coronary angiograms. In addition, she is proficient in the reporting of CT chest. Dr Wai regularly presents cases at the Trust wide lung cancer multi-disciplinary meeting and is imaging lead for a chest clinico-radiological meeting held at Ealing Hospital.

Dr Wai is lead author on a book entitled, ‘ Radiology Cases for Medical Student OSCES.’ Furthermore, she has also contributed to a book entitled ‘Cardiac imaging: Illustrated Clinical Cases.’ Her interest in thoracic imaging led her to co-author a module for the Radiology-Integrated Training Initiative on lung nodules.  

Dr Wai enjoys teaching and has delivers formal radiology teaching to medical students on a regular basis. She has also conducted cardiac imaging teaching to radiology trainees. Dr Wai has also taken on the role as Firm Lead for undergraduate radiology teaching at Ealing. 

Dr Wai has published several papers in peer review journals and has presented both nationally and internationally. More recently, Dr Wai has contributed to the National Covid-19 Chest imaging Database.
