He was born in the North West and graduated from The University of Manchester. He trained within the Manchester region, then was successfully appointed to specialist training in Advanced Lower Gastro-Intestinal Endoscopy in Sheffield, during which he underwent training in the advanced endoscopic management of colorectal polyps.
Within his current consultant role, Mr Donnelly has a specialist interest in lower gastro-intestinal endoscopy and has passed the rigorous assessment process to perform colonoscopy for the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme. He has developed a specialist an interest in the treatment of complex pilonidal sinus, having presented at national meetings and participated in research within this area. He also has an active role in undergraduate teaching on behalf of the University of Manchester.
