Mr Dan Shaerf is a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Hand & Wrist Surgery. His NHS practice is at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. He graduated from the Royal Free & University College London Medical School in 2005 with Merit and undertook a BSc in Orthopaedic Science at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Institute of Orthopaedics. During his core surgical rotation, he was ranked in the top 10% across London 4 times in a row, achieving the highest mark in 2009. After completing his specialist training on the highly sought after North West London (Imperial) Rotation he underwent 3 prestigious Hand & Wrist fellowships at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital, Chelsea & Westminster Hospital and Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals.

Dan specialises in both disorders and traumatic injuries of the Hand & Wrist. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented to international meetings on varying topics related to Hand & Wrist Surgery as well as Orthopaedics in general. He has set up a Hand Surgery Service based out of Ealing Hospital in West London.

He has a particular interest in thumb and wrist arthritis and uses state-of-the-art joint replacement technology.

Dan is a member of many specialist societies including the British Society for Surgery of the Hand, European Wrist Arthroscopy Society, British Orthopaedic Association and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. He regularly teaches on courses, attends conferences and has visited leading experts to ensure his skills are cutting-edge and up-to-date.

Having been involved in a road traffic accident sustaining multiple fractures himself, Dan has a real understanding of what it is like to be on the receiving end of orthopaedic surgery. This gives him a unique understanding and insight into the experience of his patients.

Mr Shaerf also see's children aged 3 and above relating to the hand and wrist. 

When not at work, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children, keeping fit and scuba diving.
