About Mr Colin Pease
Personal Profile
Dr Colin Pease is a Consultant Rheumatologist practising privately at The Duchy Hospital in Harrogate. He has extensive experience in rheumatology and general medicine, specialising in the assessment and treatment of conditions affecting the joints, muscles, bones and connective tissues.
Dr Pease trained at the London Hospital Medical School before completing his specialist training in Rheumatology and General Medicine through the Westminster and Charing Cross senior registrar rotation.
In 1989, he was appointed Consultant at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, where he worked within the rheumatology departments at Chapel Allerton Hospital and Wharfedale Hospital in Otley. During the first ten years of his consultancy, he also served as a Consultant in General Medicine at Wharfedale Hospital, gaining broad experience in the management of medical conditions.
Dr Pease retired from NHS practice in January 2021 and continues to see private patients at The Duchy Hospital in Harrogate. He has also contributed to the development of his specialty through his involvement with the British Society for Rheumatology, serving on its Executive Council as both Secretary and Treasurer.
Clinical Interests
Dr Pease’s clinical interests include:
- Rheumatic conditions: Assessment and treatment of pain and discomfort affecting the joints, muscles and bones.
- Polymyalgia rheumatica: Management of pain, stiffness and inflammation, particularly around the shoulders, neck and hips.
- Temporal arteritis: Assessment and treatment of inflammation affecting the arteries, particularly those around the temples.
- Sjögren’s syndrome: Diagnosis and management of this condition, which affects the body's moisture-producing glands.
- Gout: Treatment and management of gout and associated joint inflammation.
- Joint injections: Injection-based treatments to help manage joint pain and inflammation.
Dr Pease provides specialist rheumatology consultations for patients seeking assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of rheumatic and musculoskeletal conditions.
