Mr. Brewis graduated from the University of Cambridge and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He completed his specialist ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) training at several leading hospitals, including the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London, and Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
Since 2007, Mr Brewis has been working as an ENT consultant at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, He also provides consultancy at Jubilee Hospital in Huntly and Gilbert Bain Hospital in Shetland.
He has a particular interest in ear conditions (otology) and children’s ENT issues (paediatrics).
His expertise in ear-related symptoms and conditions:
• Hearing loss (deafness)
• Tinnitus (ringing or noises in the ears)
• Dizziness and balance problems (vertigo)
• Ear pain (otalgia)
• Ear discharge (otorrhoea)
• Perforated ear drum
• Eustachian tube dysfunction and patulous Eustachian tube
• Common conditions like otitis externa, otitis media, benign positional vertigo, Ménière’s disease, vestibular migraine, labyrinthitis, andvestibular neuritis
Ear procedures:
• Myringoplasty, ossiculoplasty, tympanoplasty, meatoplasty
• Bone-anchored hearing aids
• Grommet insertion
• intratympanic dexamethasone/gentamicin (steroid or antibiotic treatments)
• Epley’s manoeuvre
• Microsuction for ear cleaning
Children’s ENT conditions:
• Recurrent sore throats and tonsillitis
• Snoring and sleep apnoea
• Glue ear
Mr Brewis also serves as the Clinical Lead of the ENT Department at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
