About Dr Clare Michell

Personal Profile

Dr Michell works as an NHS GP in Wiltshire as well as caring for private GP patients at The Ridgeway Hospital. She enjoys working in all aspects of general medicine and believes in a holistic approach to patient care focusing on diet, lifestyle and mental health alongside more traditional pharmacological treatments. She has a more specialist interest in Women’s Health and the Menopause, and is a British Menopause Society (BMS) accredited Menopause Specialist. 

She is an Undergraduate GP Tutor for Oxford Medical School, and she also sits on the BSW Local Medical Committee (LMC), which is part of the wider Wessex LMC.

Following completion of her medical degree at the University of Bristol in 2008, Dr Michell moved to London where she worked in various London teaching hospitals including the Hammersmith, Charing Cross and West Middlesex University Hospitals. During this time, she completed her more specialist medical exams (MRCP) and worked as an Honorary Clinical Research & Teaching Fellow at Imperial College, London.

She went on to complete her General Practice training in Croydon, Southwest London, working amongst a multi-racial and culturally diverse community. Whilst in hospital, she worked in several specialist areas including Cardiology, Colorectal Surgery, Acute Medicine & A&E, Gastroenterology, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Care of the Elderly and ENT. She also worked at St Georges Hospital, Tooting carrying out academic research and teaching undergraduate medical students.

Dr Michell is passionate about providing high quality, evidence-based care, and patients have described her as ‘friendly’, ‘caring’ and ‘extremely thorough.’ She enjoys getting to know her patients, understanding their concerns and then working with them to find solutions. Working locally within the NHS she has developed relationships with many of the local Consultants and is able to refer patients on for more specialist treatment if required.

Outside of Medicine she has played competitive sport at an international level and joined numerous world-wide challenges as an Expedition Medic.  She has three children and enjoys spending time with them.
