Her medical journey began at the University of Bologna in Italy, where she completed her Degree in Medicine and Surgery in 1990. Driven by a strong interest in digestive health and a desire to support patients with complex gastrointestinal conditions, she went on to specialise further, achieving a Diploma of Specialisation in Gastroenterology from the University of Perugia in 1994. Her commitment to continuous learning has been a defining feature of her career. After moving to London, she completed an Academic Certificate in English and later earned a Medical Research Doctorate (M.D.) from Imperial College, one of the world’s leading centres for medical research.
Over the years, Ms Papadia has continued to expand her skills to ensure she can offer the highest standard of care. In January 2023, she obtained a Certificate of Competency in Screening for Colonoscopy and Bowel Cancer, strengthening her ability to support patients through early detection, prevention and timely treatment. She is particularly passionate about helping patients understand their digestive health, offering clear explanations and thoughtful guidance at every step.
In her current role, Ms Papadia serves as the Lead for Clinical Nutrition and as a Bowel Cancer Screening Endoscopist at Barts Health NHS Trust, based at Whipps Cross University Hospital. Here, she works closely with patients experiencing a wide range of gastrointestinal concerns, from nutritional issues to bowel symptoms and digestive discomfort. She is known for taking the time to listen carefully, answer questions and create a calm, reassuring environment during what can often be a worrying time for patients.
Alongside her clinical work, Ms Papadia is deeply committed to education and research. She is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London, where she teaches and mentors future doctors. She also holds the position of Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Bologna, maintaining strong academic ties with her home country. Her expertise is recognised at a national level as well, as she serves on the National Advisory Committee for Biosafety, Biotechnology and Life Sciences to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of Italy.
Patients often describe Ms Papadia as warm, approachable and exceptionally thorough. She is dedicated to making every patient feel heard and supported, and she brings decades of knowledge to each consultation. Whether guiding someone through a routine check‑up or helping manage a more complex condition, she is committed to delivering thoughtful, personalised care that puts patient wellbeing first.
