Mr Chris Payne is Consultant General, Colorectal and Emergency surgeon in Tayside, Scotland. He specialises in colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, coloproctology (pilonidal sinus disease, anal fistulas, anal fissures, haemorrhoids), gallstones and gallbladder problems,  diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy, hernias (groin, umbilical and incisional) and the assessment of abdominal pain, groin pain, perineal/perianal pain and altered bowel habit.

Mr Payne started his training at Edinburgh Medical School in 1995, graduating in 2000 and went into surgical training, initially in Edinburgh and subsequently in the West of Scotland. He was appointed a Consultant in NHS Tayside in 2013. He was awarded an MD from Glasgow University in 2014 for research into perioperative risk stratification

Mr Payne was appointed the Lead Consultant for Emergency General Surgery in Ninewells in 2018 and subsequently appointed as the Clinical Director of Unscheduled Surgery for NHS Tayside in 2020. He has a special interest in the assessment and management of abdominal, colorectal and groin conditions and would be happy to provide an expert opinion on acute or chronic abdominal symptoms / concerns.

Mr Payne offers consultations at Kings Park Hospital's outreach clinic located at Heal Physiotherapy Centre in Dundee. He can also offer clinic consultations on request at Kings Park Hospital, Stirling. He undertakes surgical treatments and colonoscopies at Kings Park Hospital, Stirling.
