Dr McAloon is a highly experienced Consultant Cardiologist whose main clinical practice is based at Droitwich Spa Hospital, where he provides specialist assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for a wide range of heart conditions.

He trained in medicine at the University of Birmingham, graduating in 2007, and completed his foundation and core medical training in the West Midlands. During this time, he was awarded the FY1 West Midlands Research Prize in recognition of his academic achievement.

In 2011, he entered specialist training in cardiology within the West Midlands, rotating through major regional cardiac centres and developing expertise across all aspects of cardiovascular medicine. He also completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education at the Cardiff University between 2011 and 2012, strengthening his commitment to teaching and clinical education.

In 2013, Dr McAloon commenced a PhD at the University of Warwick focusing on cardiac resynchronisation therapy and heart failure, which he completed in 2017. During this period, he presented his research nationally and internationally, published in peer-reviewed journals, and received the inaugural Royal College of Physicians and National Institute for Health Research Trainee Excellence Award in 2015.

His advanced subspecialty training includes expertise in advanced cardiac imaging, undertaken at University Hospital of North Midlands and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, covering transthoracic, transoesophageal, stress echocardiography, and cardiac MRI.

Alongside his role at Droitwich Spa Hospital, Dr McAloon is also an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. He previously worked as a Consultant Cardiologist at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust between 2019 and 2022.

At Droitwich Spa Hospital, he continues to provide expert care in cardiology, with a focus on accurate diagnosis, evidence-based treatment, and advanced cardiac imaging to support patients with complex and long-term heart conditions.
