Mr Christopher Thorn undertook  training in Leeds and London, culminating with an 18 month period at St. Mark's Hospital, specialising in complex colorectal disease and including an Ethicon Fellowship in laparoscopic colorectal surgery.

He has a continued interest in education and research. He is a member of the education executive of the EFISDS and has lectured and taught laparoscopic skills both nationally and internationally. 

Mr Thorn has research interests in Enhanced Recovery after colorectal surgery and perioerative scoring systems and continues to publish and review academic papers. He secured a Darzi Management Fellowship.
