Dr. Shekhar is an experienced gastroenterologist with a robust clinical and research background. He has trained extensively in London, Manchester, and the West Midlands Deanery. Currently, he serves as a consultant gastroenterologist at the University Hospital, Coventry, and also practices at the Meriden Hospital, Coventry. Dr. Shekhar is multilingual and speaks English, Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu fluently.

Dr. Shekhar has a strong interest in clinical research, functional gastrointestinal disorders and new endoscopy procedures. His work at the Neurogastroenterology Unit at the University Hospital of South Manchester has led to numerous national and international presentations and publications. He earned his MD from the University of Manchester in 2012. He completed a fellowship in advanced endoscopic techniques at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, in 2014. 2017, he received a prestigious BSG travelling endoscopy fellowship in Hamburg, Germany. His current research focuses on colon capsule endoscopy and AI.
Professional Journey
• 2015: Joined Manor Hospital, Walsall, as a consultant gastroenterologist, introducing new procedures and services for the patients. He received clinical and hospital excellence awards in 2019.
• 2020: Appointed as a consultant gastroenterologist at UHCW, specialising in advanced therapeutic endoscopy procedures.
• 2022-2024: Served as the clinical service lead for the gastroenterology department.
Teaching and Training
Dr. Shekhar is also an endoscopy trainer and teaches medical students from Warwick Medical School. He manages a specialist clinic for patients with dyspepsia and other digestive tract issues and those requiring advanced therapeutic endoscopy procedures in the Coventry and Warwickshire region.
He is a member of the Midland Gastroenterology Society and the British Gastroenterology Society (BSG). He is also an elected member of the BSG's pancreato-biliary committee.
