About Catherine Fitzgerald

Personal Profile

Catherine qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1989 and has developed a broad depth of knowledge in treating various musculoskeletal conditions. This experience has been gained by working in a variety of workplaces. (NHS, private hospitals, sports injury clinics, rugby clubs and on-site in the occupational health and safety departments of corporate workplaces.)

Catherine has studied at masters level in ergonomics and rehabilitation. She feels that it is important to seek to identify the causes of injury, enabling often simple adjustments to be implemented to gain more proactive management.  She has specialist knowledge of DSE assessments and advising on adjustments in the workplace. to She believes that this intervention strategy improves employee health and wellbeing and can reduces sickness absence.  Exercises therapy with a more functional approach related to job tasks and leisure activities.

I feel that it is important to take time to listen and understand people’s problems, building a relationship and trust. We often have difficult things going on outside of work that are not in our control and speaking to people can help manage and cope with this better. I also think a sense of humour important to help overcome difficult times. It is rewarding for me to see that as a result that small adjustments to the work area and lifestyle, it  can  help people to optimise their health and safety and comfort at work and this in turn will help maximise performance at work.

Outside of work I try to keep fit and am a very keen golfer and play at county level. This has lead to working with a golf professional and performing movement screening assessments for golfers to identify weakness in relation to the golf swing. I am also a Pilates teacher, an exercise that I feel can help everybody.

I look forward to joining you at the bank and hope we can all work together to make the working environment more enjoyable,
