Mr Gowardhan is a specialist Urologist; he trained in the North East. He was appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Sunderland Royal Hospital in 2009. He has a diverse range of expertise in urology, both general core urology and specialised services in cancer management. He has extensive experience in laparoscopic (keyhole) kidney surgery and is a leading expert in robotic radical prostatectomy (using the Da Vinci Robot) for prostate cancer at Sunderland Royal Hospital.
Having trained in the North East as a specialist registrar, he has been exposed to almost all aspects of urological surgery and has gained the necessary skill-set to assess and manage most urological conditions. Mr Gowardhan has good experience in core urological procedures such as a TURP (the surgical procedure that involves cutting away a section of the prostate), TURBT (a treatment used to diagnose and treat bladder cancer), circumcisions, scrotal procedures, vasectomy and cystoscopy (procedure to look inside the bladder) – both rigid and flexible. Additionally, he is experienced in performing basic ureteroscopic procedures for diagnostic and therapeutic indications.
He has been working at Woodlands Hospital, offering private and NHS urology services since 2010, and is registered with most private insurance companies.
