About Miss Beth Harvey

Personal Profile

Beth is a HCPC Registered Specialist Dietitian with over 10 years’ clinical experience across the NHS, independent healthcare, charity sectors and healthcare education. She has developed expertise in gastroenterology and women’s health, with a particular clinical interest in the relationship between gastrointestinal (GI) and hormonal health. Her practice focuses on supporting individuals with functional gut disorders, endometriosis, PMOS (previously PCOS), fertility and pre-conception nutrition, while also supporting women through the menopause where hormonal changes, gastrointestinal symptoms and metabolic health frequently overlap.

Beth completed her Master of Nutrition (MNutr) in Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Nottingham before beginning her clinical career within the NHS. She has since gained experience across a broad range of specialist areas including gastroenterology, upper GI surgery, intestinal failure, nutrition support, oncology, burns, reproductive medicine and metabolic health, supporting patients with complex and often interconnected health concerns. Beth developed her specialist gastroenterology expertise during her time at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, where she worked as a Specialist Upper GI and Gastroenterology Dietitian.

She managed complex digestive conditions including IBS, inflammatory bowel disease, coeliac disease, upper GI cancers and intestinal failure, while gaining extensive experience in oral, enteral and parenteral nutrition. As the Nutrition Team Specialist Dietitian, she co-led multidisciplinary nutrition ward rounds and coordinated parenteral nutrition (TPN) pathways for patients with intestinal failure across the hospital. This strong clinical foundation continues to inform her evidence-based and patient-centred approach to practice.

Alongside her NHS career, Beth worked within Circle Health Group, where she established and developed a specialist dietetic service within oncology, gastroenterology and reproductive medicine pathways. This provided experience of delivering specialist dietetic care within a consultant-led independent healthcare environment and integrating nutrition into wider multidisciplinary patient pathways.

Beth’s current clinical practice sits at the intersection of gut health and women’s health. She recognises that digestive symptoms, hormonal health, metabolic function, inflammation and overall wellbeing are often interconnected rather than existing in isolation. Her approach is holistic, personalised and grounded in evidence-based practice, considering the wider factors that influence health including nutrition, activity levels, sleep, stress, nervous system regulation and individual lifestyle circumstances. She works closely with each person to understand their unique health picture, developing practical and sustainable strategies tailored to their goals and medical history.

Alongside her clinical work, Beth has a strong interest in education and service development. She currently delivers specialist gut health education to healthcare professionals across the South West, supporting the translation of current evidence into practical clinical guidance. She is also keen to contribute to professional education through evidence-based articles, recently authoring an article for the British Dietetic Association Fertility Specialist Group exploring the relationship between gut health and women’s health conditions, and the role of the Dietitian in this space. Beth is a Full Member of the British Dietetic Association and is Low FODMAP Certified through King’s College London. She has completed postgraduate training in Advanced Dietetics, including specialist modules in Gastroenterology and Nutrition Support, alongside additional training in Fertility Nutrition for Healthcare Professionals. Beth believes that effective nutritional care combines specialist clinical knowledge with a compassionate and collaborative approach. She supports patients to better understand the connection between nutrition, gut health and hormonal health, empowering them to make sustainable changes that support long term health and wellbeing.
