About Ben Horsburgh

Personal Profile

Mr Horsburgh is a Consultant Urologist with an established international profile in clinical practice and research. He has presented and published work internationally and has received several awards for excellence, including Best Presentationat the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) Annual Conference in 2010 and Best Poster in Section at the European Association of Urology (EAU) Congress in 2016. In 2026, he was invited to speak at the BAUS Annual Scientific Meeting on the use of robotic process automation and workflow automation in healthcare.

In 2014, Mr Horsburgh was selected as one of only three candidates nationally to attend the BAUS Endourology Residential Operative Course, receiving specialist training in renal stone surgery. In 2015, he undertook a six-month period of specialist practice in urinary tract stone disease at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, gaining further experience in the management of complex stone disease and endourological procedures.

While Mr Horsburgh has an interest in all aspects of urology, he has extensive experience in the management of urinary tract stone disease, benign prostatic conditions, and prostate cancer diagnostics. His research interests include radiation protection in urological surgery and the application of advanced information technology in healthcare. He has published internationally on strategies to reduce radiation exposure to both patients and staff during ureteroscopic stone surgery. More recently, his work has focused on the application of robotic process automation and artificial intelligence to healthcare workflows, with a particular interest in reducing administrative burden and improving the efficiency and standardisation of patient pathways.

Mr Horsburgh is deeply committed to medical education. He completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education in November 2025 and acts as a clinical supervisor for junior doctors of all grades. He is also actively involved in the teaching of foundation doctors and medical students.
