About Mr Ben Dreyer

Personal Profile

Mr Dreyer is a substantive Consultant Urologist and the Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) Lead at NHS Fife. He leads the National BPH Pathway in NHS Fife and practices privately at Kings Park Hospital in Stirling. He trained in the West and East of Scotland and lectures for the University of St Andrews and recently helped write their new undergraduate urology curriculum. In 2026 Mr Dreyer led the launch of the first private laser prostate enucleations (HoLEP/ThuFLEP) in Scotland and is open to referrals from across Scotland.

Mr Dreyer treats a wide variety of male and female general urological conditions, with subspecialist expertise in advanced prostate therapies including minimally invasive surgical techniques (MISTs) such as HoLEP (Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate), ThuFLEP, Rezum prostate steam ablation and iTind prostatatic implants as well as renal stone surgery. He is experienced in general urology including; assessment of testicular lumps, recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs), overactive bladder, phimosis, erectile dysfunction, prostate cancer diagnostics including biopsy and bladder cancer.

Mr Dreyer graduated with his medical degree (MBChB) and a First Class Honours degree in Physiology from the University of Dundee. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Urology (FRCSUrol) and well published in his field with a focus on modern treatment of benign prostate enlargement and training in advanced laser surgery.

Beyond surgery, he operates as an international medical educator and proctor, training other consultants globally on complex laser and minimally invasive prostate operations and regularly presents at international conferences. This included presenting a semi-live laser prostate enucleation (ThuFLEP) case at the inaugural International Conference of Endourology in Rome 2025.
