Dr Alchi obtained his medical degree from Mosul University, Iraq in 1991. He was working there as a lecturer in renal medicine before moving to Japan in 2002 to conduct clinical research. He was awarded a scholarship from the Japanese Ministry of Education, which allowed him to complete a PhD on kidney transplant rejection in 2006.
Dr Alchi moved to the UK in 2006. He undertook further specialist training in nephrology at Cambridge University Hospitals. He is a follow of the Royal College of physicians and of the Higher Education Academy, a member of the Renal Association UK and the European Society of Nephrology.
Dr Alchi has a wealth of experience in all fields of nephrology. He is the lead for the glomerulonephritis and polycystic kidney disease services at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.
Dr Alchi has a very strong interest in clinical research. He is a principle investigator of several ongoing clinical trials. He has published over 30 papers in peer-reviewed journals and has a chapter in the Oxford Textbook of Clinical Nephrology.
