Personal Profile

Mr Barnes Morgan is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon specializing primarily in the care of patients with disorders of the shoulder. His special interests include arthroscopic (key-hole) surgery for soft tissue injuries of the shoulder, including sports injuries and degenerative conditions. He has a particular expertise managing tears of the rotator cuff tendons which are considered “irreparable.”

Mr Morgan also has a specialist interest in joint replacement surgery for shoulder arthritis. 

He provides surgical treatments for tennis and golfer’s elbow (including PRP injections) and has expertise in the treatment of fractures and traumatic injuries to the shoulder. 
 
Mr Morgan developed his expertise from holding UK shoulder fellowship posts at Stepping Hill Hospital under the supervision of Mr Matt Ravenscroft and Mr Clive Warren-Smith, followed by an upper limb fellowship at the internationally renowned Wrightington Upper Limb Unit. 
 
In addition to his surgical qualifications, He has a BSc in Neuroscience and an MSc in Trauma Surgery. He has lectured nationally and internationally on shoulder surgery and is involved in running a national Arthroscopic Shoulder Surgery course. He has an active interest in research and regularly publishes in medical journals. He has presented research at national and international scientific meetings and was part of the team who were awarded the Ian Kelly Prize for research at BESS Dublin 2016. 
 
With his colleague Mr Chris Peach, he has recently been awarded GHP Private Healthcare Awards for Best Sports Injury Therapy Specialists for North West England, under their Cheshire Shoulder and Elbow Clinic and has also won awards as part of OrthTeam
