About Dr Balasubramaniam Vijayan

Personal Profile

Originally from Tamilnadu in India, Dr Vijayan completed his Undergraduate training and graduated with MBBS in 1991. He then went on to train for 3 years in General Internal Medicine and obtained a MD (GIM) in 1997.

Dr Vijayan started his career in the UK in 1997 and worked in various hospitals in Scotland and obtained his MRCP in 1999. Having finished his Gastroenterology training in Aberdeen, he took up the Consultant post in 2006 and has been practising as a Gastroenterologist for the past 16 years actively involved in teaching and training both undergraduate and postgraduate doctors.

He is a JAG accredited Endoscopist and Colonoscopist

In addition general gastroenterology, his clinical interest includes hepatology. Dr Vijayan has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh (FRCP 2022.)
