Personal Profile

Dr Bala Veemarajan is a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine working in Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS trust. He is the Clinical lead for pain management and he is very much involved in developing the interventional and multidisciplinary pain service. He has experience in treating a wide range of pain conditions like low back pain, sciatica, neck pain, musculoskeletal pain and complex regional pain syndrome.

He is proficient in interventional techniques including spinal injections like epidurals, facet joint injections, diagnostic nerve blocks, radiofrequency denervation. He completed his undergraduate medical and postgraduate anaesthesia qualifications in India and then moved to the UK in 2002 to pursue specialist anaesthetic training in Nottingham University Hospitals.

During his training, he gained FRCA & FFPMRCA from the Royal College of Anaesthetists, London. In addition, he underwent advanced training in Pain management before being appointed as a consultant. His special interests are interventional pain management, orthopaedic/trauma and regional anaesthesia.
