He completed his undergraduate training at Sheffield Medical School, before pursuing specialist urological training within the Yorkshire region. Prior to his current consultant post he was the first to complete the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons Kidney Cancer Surgery Fellowship at the Royal Free Hospital in London, the highest volume kidney surgery centre in the UK and Europe with >400 cases a year. He has also undertaken a clinical visit to Aalborg, Denmark supported by the Royal College of Surgeons. Mr Gulamhusein currently hold an honorary consultant contract at The Royal Marsden Hospital in London, where he maintains close links with the testicular/kidney cancer team.
Mr Gulamhusein is active in medical education, having been a previous urology module lead at the Sheffield Medical School. He has published widely in the urological field and is regularly invited to speak at meetings and conferences. His research interests are focused on urological cancers, minimally invasive surgery, novel technology and enhanced recovery after surgery.
He has a subspecialty interest in kidney cancer, testicular cancer, retroperitoneal sarcoma and prostate cancer.
He is a key member of the multispecialty surgical team, involved with joint gynaecological and colorectal cases for complex cancer surgery as well as endometriosis.
