Professor Asif Raza graduated from Glasgow University Medical School in 1991. He trained as a specialist registrar in Urology on the East of Scotland Training Programme. He trained in Minimal Access Surgery/Endourology (keyhole surgery for kidney stones using laser and electrohydraulic lithotripsy) and Laparoscopic Renal Surgery (keyhole surgery for both benign and malignant renal conditions).
He then trained in the world-renowned Scottish Lithotriptor (Stone) Centre in the Western General Hospital Edinburgh learning more advanced skills in minimal access and stone surgery. He trained in Ninewells Teaching Hospital (Dundee) again performing minimal access (keyhole) surgery during part of this period. Ninewells hospital has close links with the world-renowned Cuschieri Laparoscopic Training centre.
After completion of his registrar training Professor Raza was appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon in Ealing and Hammersmith NHS Trust He currently works for London Northwest University Healthcare NHS Trust.
He is an Honorary Associate Professor Plymouth University Medical and Dental School. He also holds the post of Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College Medical School, London. He is programme lead for Urology for the Rila institute, and currently offers Kidney Stone Treatment.
He deals with prostate problems both benign and cancer related offering prostate cancer screening, prostate surgery for benign prostatic enlargement. He manages all general urological conditions in both men and women including urinary infections, blood in the urine, penile and testicular problems as well as bladder problems. His area of subspecialist interest is kidney stone surgery (keyhole/laser) and (keyhole) kidney surgery.
He has published widely in this field and presents audits and research at local, international and international meetings.
