Mr Menon is a Consultant Upper GI & General Surgeon at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport. He studied Medicine at Cambridge University and undertook postgraduate surgical training in complex Upper GI, Bariatric and General Surgery in the North-West, Leeds and London. This included a 1-year fellowship in Bariatric Surgery in Liverpool prior to his appointment as a consultant.
His specialist interests are in minimally invasive surgery to treat acid reflux, hiatus hernias, and achalasia. He has worked with a team of Upper GI surgeons to become the main NHS provider of complex benign UGI surgery in the South-East sector of Greater Manchester and beyond.
He has been the Trust Clinical Lead for Upper GI cancer for 6 years and led a major expansion of the team and introduced innovative techniques such as ‘Transnasal OGD’ into the trust. He was recognised by being nominated by his team for an ‘Inspirational Leader’ Award for his work and how this has helped to improve care for patients recently diagnosed with oesophagogastric cancer.
He aims to provide a patient-centred approach to help patients struggling with acid reflux in particular.
