Dr Asad Khan Personal Profile

Dr. Asad Khan is an experienced Gastroenterologist with over 15 years of NHS experience and a strong foundation in internal medicine. He initially trained as a Consultant Physician before embarking on post-fellowship training in gastroenterology and transplant hepatology at a leading tertiary institute. Since relocating to the UK, he has developed a comprehensive career in general gastroenterology and advanced endoscopy, consistently delivering high-quality, patient-focused care and achieving key performance indicators. 

He has extensive experience in managing a broad range of gastrointestinal conditions, including acid reflux, Barretts oesophagus, eosinophilic oesophagitis, abdominal pain, bloating, coeliac disease, irritable bowel syndrome IBS, inflammatory bowel disease IBD, chronic diarrhoea, constipation, fatty liver, and gastrointestinal infections such as Helicobacter pylori. Dr Khan adopts a thorough, compassionate, and patient-centred approach with his best endeavours directed to finding answers to their health concerns. His core expertise lies in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, with substantial experience in complex polyp resections EMR, gastrointestinal bleeding management variceal and non-variceal, simple stricture dilatation, enteral tube placement and removal PEG, PEG-J, and NJ tubes, chromoendoscopy for Barretts and IBD surveillance, push enteroscopy, and foreign body removal. He also performs a full range of diagnostic procedures, including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and flexible sigmoidoscopy, with a special interest in upper GI endoscopy and patient comfort-focused techniques. 
Dr Khan has led the Capsule Sponge service for Barretts surveillance as part of the Cytoprime 2 trial and is actively involved in research and quality improvement projects. He is proud of his QiP which led to improvement in Barretts surveillance gastroscopy. 

He is a JAG-accredited endoscopy trainer and accredited educational supervisor, having trained his colleagues, resident doctors, registrars, and nurse endoscopists. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Khan is passionate about digital health and is contemplating an AI-driven endoscopy innovation aimed at improving workflow.
