Dr Arvind Ramadas is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Endoscopist at Woodlands Hospital in Darlington. He sees NHS, privately insured and self-paying patients.

He is also a Consultant Gastroenterologist at South Tees NHS Trust (James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton), with 15 years experience in a substantive consultant post.

He completed specialist training in Gastroenterology and General Medicine in the United Kingdom, and during his specialist training he undertook a 2 year research into the epidemiology of inflammatory bowel disease.

He is the current Deputy Chair for the North East and North Cumbria Endoscopy Network and the Deputy Cancer Lead for University Hospital Tees. He was the Clinical Lead for endoscopy services at South Tees NHS Trust until February 2026, and successfully lead the recovery of endoscopy services following COVID.

In addition, he has extensive research experience in IBD, and has collaborated nationally with major IBD units. He has expertise in capsule endoscopy assessment of the small and large intestine, and has been accredited by the British Society of Gastroenterology for provision of colon capsule service. 

He has significant expertise in the management of complex IBD and has successfully treated patients who have been struggling with their symptoms for a long time. He undertakes a dedicated IBD clinic with access to a multi-professional team including dietitians, specialist nurses and radiologists at South Tees NHS Trust.

He is the Clinical Lead for the Specialist Minimally Invasive Gastrointestinal Services at South Tees and has vast experience with undertaking capsule endoscopy for assessment of gastrointestinal symptoms.

He has a strong focus on clinical governance and patient safety and is committed to delivering excellence in patient care, ensuring patients receive the best possible care.
