About Mr Aravind Desai

Mr Desai Personal Profile

Mr Desai is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in shoulder and elbow conditions.

He completed his orthopaedic training in India and continued his specialist training in Newcastle. He has also gained advanced qualifications, including a Master’s degree from the University of Central Lancashire and a Master of Surgery degree from Edge Hill University.

He completed further specialist training in shoulder and elbow surgery at the well-known Wrightington Hospital.

Mr Desai treats a wide range of conditions, including sports injuries, arthritis and more complex shoulder and elbow problems. He uses keyhole (minimally invasive) techniques where possible.

Many procedures are carried out as day cases. This means patients can go home the same day and recover more quickly. Mr Desai has also helped introduce day-case shoulder replacement surgery in his NHS Trust.

Alongside his clinical work, Mr Desai is involved in teaching and research. He has presented his work at national and international meetings and published many research papers. He teaches doctors and medical students and holds teaching roles with Sheffield and Hull York Medical School.

He also supports the wider profession through leadership roles with the Royal College of Surgeons and in foundation training.

Mr Desai regularly receives excellent feedback from his patients.
