About Anna Lagerdahl

Personal Profile

Anna completed her clinical psychology doctorate (DClinPsy) at the University of Plymouth in 2009. She is trained in supporting patients experiencing a wide range of physical health conditions but specialises in the field of cancer and palliative care and is the Lead for the Cancer Psychology Service at Great Western Hospital in Swindon.

Within her role, Anna offers individualised psychological assessments and interventions, using a range of psychological approaches, for a variety of psychological difficulties.

These include low mood/depression, anxiety, confidence/low self-esteem, anger, bereavement and loss, sleep difficulties, adjustment and coping with physical healthcare conditions, relationship difficulties and more.

Anna also offers supervision, teaching and training to psychologists and other healthcare professionals. Anna is active within cancer and palliative care on a national level and sits on the committee of the Special Interest Group in Oncology and Palliative care.

She is also very involved in teaching and research, and has published several studies on the experiences and needs of cancer patients. She regularly teaches trainee clinical psychologists at the University of Bath, and also taught as a Senior Associate Lecturer for seven years at the University of Bristol.

She regularly supervises both MSc students and trainee clinical psychologists on their research projects and clinical placements.
