He performed research on inflammatory bowel disease at Southampton General and obtained an MS from the University of London and went on to complete a year's fellowship in Laparoscopic and Advanced Colorectal surgery at Basingstoke, a centre for rectal cancer and rare peritoneal malignancy called Pseudomyxoma.
Mr Talwar has been trained in all forms of major open and laparoscopic bowel resection. He is also trained in general surgery and hernia surgery, again both laparoscopic and open.
He is passionate about data collection and has a very low complication profile for his surgery. Mr Talwar has an interest in surgery for colorectal cancer along with all areas of colorectal surgery and general surgery, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. He was appointed a consultant in October 2011 and has built a very good reputation in the hospital with both colleagues and patients.
