Miss Anita Paul is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Woodlands Hospital in Darlington. She sees NHS, self-pay and insured patients.

She has been awarded the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in Ophthalmology, and is a Registered Specialist with the General Medical Council. She is also fully accredited by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. Miss Paul has exhaustive experience in Ophthalmology. Her passion is ‘to alleviate treatable and preventable blindness.’ She works with charitable organisations, offering her surgical skills.

Miss Paul qualified in Medicine from The University of Delhi in 1994. She did specialist registrar training and achieved her Master's degree in Ophthalmology. She then took up an academic role working in a busy hospital in Nepal teaching undergraduate medical students.

She moved to the UK in 2004 and joined the UK Specialist Registrars training programme in Ophthalmology, completing further higher surgical training in Ophthalmology at Birmingham Midland Eye Centre and associated hospitals in the West Midlands. These include the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle, James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough and Sunderland Eye Infirmary, Sunderland. She undertook advanced subspecialty training in Glaucoma at Sunderland Eye Infirmary and a Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Fellowship at Royal Manchester Eye Hospital.

She has a keen interest in cosmetic and rejuvenation medicine.

Miss Paul has published papers in national and international medical journals. She has had the honour of presenting her work at national and international conferences.

She has an interest in improving quality and safety in patient care. She has done an MBA for Health Executives and published a thesis on ‘Shared Leadership in Healthcare’.

Miss Paul is recognised by all major UK insurers.

She provides a patient-tailored cataract surgery with options of premium intraocular lens implants, including toric lenses for astigmatism correction, multifocal lenses and enhanced depth of focus lenses.

She also provides services for glaucoma, lid-related oculoplastic procedures and general ophthalmology problems. These include lid cyst, lumps and bumps, xanthelesma, watery and dry eyes. She also performs laser procedures including YAG capsulotomy, iridotomy and SLT.
