About Mr Andy Appleyard

Personal Profile

Andy qualified as a physiotherapist in 2004.

He completed a degree in Sport Science & Biology in Chester, followed by an MSc in Physiotherapy. He later went on to complete a PgCert in Advanced Clinical Practice at Teesside University.

Clinically, he has over 18 years of experience both within the NHS, GP practice, private practice, and sport. Andy's favourite clinical cases are those involving significant rehabilitation and returning patients to an active lifestyle. He particularly enjoys rehabilitation after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction and tendinopathy management.

Andy has completed many external courses in strength and conditioning, Olympic weight-lifting and sports-related rehabilitation. This ensures that patients get the right balance of treatment, including both hands on, where required, and restoring capacity in the tissues to allow a full return to whatever a patient's goals may be.

As manager of the department, Andy also enjoys the service development side of his role. This involves ensuring that patients attending Woodlands receive the best evidence-based treatment from our experienced clinicians. Woodlands is a great place to receive treatment because of our extensive facilities, experienced staff, range of modalities, and quality overarching governance of your care.
