Mr Andrew M Felstead MBChB (Hons), BDS, MFDSRCS (Eng), FRCSEd (OMFS) is a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon at the Royal United Hospital NHS Trust in Bath.
Andrew obtained his undergraduate degrees in dentistry and medicine from the Universities of Birmingham and Bristol respectively. He then undertook surgical training across trauma and orthopaedics, general surgery, and neurosurgery, successfully completing the MRCSEd examination. Following this, he returned to his parent specialty to complete a five‑year specialist training programme in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in the South West of England, culminating in the FRCSEd (OMFS) qualification.
He is listed on the GMC Specialist Register for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and is experienced across the full scope of the specialty, including facial trauma and facial deformity management. Andrew has a particular interest in head and neck cancer, salivary gland disease, and the treatment of skin cancers affecting the head and neck. He is an active member of both the head and neck and skin cancer multidisciplinary teams within the trust.
Andrew regularly sees patients requiring removal of lumps and bumps, and he undertakes primary excisions, secondary excisions, and biopsies. However, he does not assess patients for general skin complaints or rashes.
Alongside his clinical role, Andrew is an honorary clinical tutor in head and neck anatomy for the Severn Deanery School of Surgery, and he teaches undergraduate and postgraduate dental and medical students. He also has several publications in peer‑reviewed journals.
