He won the McCartney Prize for Ophthalmic Pathology in 1999. Since 2005, Dr Inglis has been a substantive Consultant in NHS Ayrshire and Arran, having also been Glaucoma Lead there since appointment. He was Clinical Director for Ophthalmology between 2008 and 2014 and still plays an active management role there. He regularly teaches medical students, specialist trainees and optometrists in his clinic and theatre.
Dr Inglis has extensive experience in small incision cataract surgery and has a very low complication rate. He believes in the use of tried and tested techniques to ensure patient receive optimum care and is passionate about the role of communication and patient education, particularly important when treating chronic eye diseases such as glaucoma.
Dr Inglis has wide ranging experience in the medical, laser and surgical management of glaucoma, having successfully introduced MIGS (istent) at Ayr in 2018.
