About Dr Anand Virgincar

Dr Anand Virgincar is a Consultant in Clinical Neurophysiology with a background in neurology and over three decades of medical experience. He trained in internal medicine and neurology in India before completing specialist training in Clinical Neurophysiology at the Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford. He was appointed Consultant by the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals in 1999, providing services to the National Spinal Injuries Centre at Stoke Mandeville.

Dr Virgincar is known for his thorough, clinically led approach, ensuring investigations are interpreted within the full clinical context. He offers extended appointment times for detailed assessment, rapid access to appointments, and prompt reporting. His expertise is particularly valued by orthopaedic and plastic surgeons for assessing complex or non-surgical neurological conditions.

He works closely with referring clinicians and is readily available for advice on urgent or complex cases.

With a particular interest in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of peripheral nerve and muscle disorders like:

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome, Ulnar neuropathy & other upper limb nerve entrapments
  • Peroneal neuropathy, tarsal tunnel syndrome & other lower limb entrapments
  • Peripheral neuropathies
  • Brachial neuritis
  • Muscular dystrophy, Polymyositis & other myopathies
  • Motor neurone disease

*Does not undertake single fibre / small fibre studies or central neurophysiology like EEG or Evoked potentials
