She developed an early interest in women’s health, gaining a Diploma from the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health.After successfully completing her Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) examinations in 2011, she relocated to the Bath area, where she has since worked as a GP across BANES and Wiltshire, supporting a broad range of patients with both acute and long-term health needs.
Dr Chan-Pensley has continued to expand her expertise in menopause and hormone health. She holds the RCOG Post-Reproductive Health Certificate, the British Menopause Society (BMS) Certificate in the Management of the Menopause, and the Dr Louise Newson Confidence in the Menopause Certificate. She has also led a dedicated menopause clinic within her NHS practice for the past three years, offering tailored, up-to-date care for women experiencing perimenopause and menopause symptoms.
Dr Chan-Pensley also has a strong interest in lifestyle and preventative medicine. She believes that long-term health is built on key foundations including balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, restorative sleep, and effective stress management. She is particularly interested in the role of gut health and the microbiome, recognising their wide-ranging influence across multiple body systems and their importance in maintaining overall health. She works collaboratively with patients to support realistic, sustainable lifestyle changes that improve wellbeing and help reduce the risk of future illness.
Dr Chan-Pensley is known for her warm, approachable manner and her commitment to listening carefully to her patients. She provides holistic, patient-centred care and aims to empower individuals to take an active role in their health, supporting them to optimise their wellbeing at every stage of life.
