Miss Hunter-Smith is an expert in oncoplastic breast surgery, combining advanced cancer surgery with reconstructive techniques to achieve the best possible cancer, functional, and cosmetic outcomes. She believes every patient should have access to a range of reconstructive options and works closely with each individual to develop a personalised treatment plan.
After completing higher surgical training in the South West of England, she undertook the prestigious national Training Interface Group TIG Fellowship in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery in Liverpool the highest cancer volume TIG fellowship across the country, integrating specialist breast and plastic surgery training, and achieved a Diploma in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery from the University of East Anglia. Her expertise includes therapeutic mammoplasty, chest wall perforator flap reconstruction, implant-based reconstruction, and advanced breast-conserving surgery.
Alongside her NHS practice, Miss Hunter-Smith offers cosmetic breast surgery, including breast reduction, breast uplift, breast augmentation, and implant surgery. Her specialist training includes an Observership with the internationally renowned plastic surgeon Dr Elizabeth Hall-Findlay in Banff, Canada, enabling her to combine reconstructive and aesthetic techniques to achieve natural, balanced results.
Committed to advancing breast surgery, Miss Hunter-Smith completed an International Research Fellowship at the University of Calgary, Canada, leading a nationally funded study exploring the psychological, social, and sexual impact of breast cancer on young women. Her research has been presented internationally and published in multiple peer-reviewed journals, underpinning her commitment to delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care.
Education and training are integral to her practice. She is Course Convenor for national breast reconstruction courses, an Honorary Lecturer on the internationally recognised Master's in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery at Anglia Ruskin University, and serves on the Regional Annual Review of Competence Progression ARCP panel for higher surgical trainees.
