Ali Najefi is an experienced Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with Foot and Ankle subspeciality practice. He currently has a large NHS practice at the London North West University Hospital NHS Trust (Northwick Park and Central Middlesex Hospitals). He performs a wide range of procedures in foot and ankle surgery, including hallux valgus and forefoot surgery, arthroscopic surgery, arthritis, neurological injuries, sports injuries, deformity correction and ankle replacements. He also performs Minimally Invasive Foot and Ankle Surgery (MIS) which is increasingly used to treat a number of common foot conditions. He is also an expert in managing foot and ankle trauma, including lower leg and ankle fractures and ligament injuries, achilles tendon injuries, midfoot injuries and toe fractures
He completed his orthopaedic training from the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (Stanmore) training rotation in 2020. He has undertaken full post-CCT fellowships at centres of excellence within the UK, including the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) in Stanmore, the Royal London Hospital, Kings College Hospital and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre (NOC) in Oxford. He was awarded the European Foot and Ankle Society (EFAS) travelling fellowship, and he learned about modern and cutting-edge techniques from highly reputable centres in Greece, Italy, Switzerland and France. He is a fellow of the British and European Foot and Ankle Societies (BOFAS and EFAS).
He prides himself on open and honest communication with his patients, and he is committed to providing bespoke, custom care for each individual. He regularly uses modern techniques and all treatment plans are tailored to the individual. He regularly monitors his outcomes so he can provide the best evidence-based care for his patients. The majority of his operations are done as day-case surgery. He has developed strong links with other healthcare professionals involved with foot and ankle problems, such as physiotherapy, podiatry and orthotics.
He is actively involved and enthusiastic about research and has a large number of peer-reviewed publications. He has previously won the prizes for his work and regularly presents his work nationally and internationally. He has authored book chapters in two Orthopaedic textbooks and has completed a Masters degree with distinction in Trauma and Orthopaedics at UCL. He is committed to improving the service within which he works, and he has been involved in numerous audits and quality improvement projects.
He is passionate about teaching and he is the education lead for the trauma and orthopaedic department across the entire London North West University Hospital (LNWH) Trust. He is also the Clinical Tutor for Imperial College Medical students at Northwick Park Hospital. He has organised and been a faculty member on a number of FRCS teaching courses, and he has been an examiner at postgraduate and undergraduate examinations.
In his spare time, he enjoys watching and playing sport, particularly rugby, cricket and football. He lives with his wife and 3 children in North West London.
