Dr. Solomon is a passionate Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology, with a special focus on pre-conception advice, antenatal endocrinology, and the treatment of various endocrine disorders such as thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, pituitary conditions, and diabetes. With expertise in insulin pump therapy and the latest technology in diabetes management, she offers comprehensive care in both hospital wards and outpatient clinics.
Driven by her commitment to improving patient outcomes, Dr. Solomon led the groundbreaking CONCEPTT study, investigating the role of continuous glucose monitoring in managing diabetes during pregnancy. The initial results were published in Lancet, with further research continuing to build on these insights. Her extensive experience spans both clinical practice and pioneering research, making her a leader in her field.
Dr. Solomon’s journey began at the National University of Russia, where she graduated with a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1994. She went on to complete her residency in General Medicine, followed by a two-year fellowship in Diabetes and Endocrinology in Israel. By 2002, she was already a consultant at Sheba Medical Centre, a prestigious tertiary hospital, where she contributed significantly to patient care until 2007.
Her career took an exciting turn when she moved to the UK in 2007 to pursue a PhD on the impact of maternal diabetes and abnormal fetal growth. In 2011, she earned her PhD from the University of Manchester, furthering her expertise in this critical area. As a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sheffield, she also became a trusted mentor and educator. In 2014, Dr. Solomon joined the UK Specialist Register in Diabetes, Endocrinology, and General Medicine, and was awarded the title of Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
In 2015, Dr. Solomon returned to clinical practice at Russells Hall Hospital, where she was appointed as a Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology. Her dedication to patient care and teaching led to her appointment as Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Birmingham in 2017, where she has also been recognized with a Clinical Excellence Award and named Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP).
Dr. Solomon continues to shape the future of diabetes and endocrine care, combining research, clinical expertise, and education to provide the highest standard of patient care.
